With 8M on the horizon, two key questions have led Bolivian artist, writer and activist María Galindo to develop a performance in the Museo: What are our horizons in feminist struggle? What or from where do we speak about when we are situated as feminists? The Invisible Cage is an updated version of a performance presented in the Parliament of Bodies: Impossible Parliaments, a project curated by Paul B. Preciado and Viktor Neumann — philosopher and historian, respectively — in conjunction with the Bergen Assembly in Norway, comprising a programme of debates, performances, screenings, etc. carried out in September 2019.

Evoking street gatherings and protests, this action will give rise to a conversation between the artist and attendees, and will be moderated by art historian and curator Rafael Doctor.

María Galindo (La Paz, 1964) is co-founder of the Bolivian collective Mujeres Creando (Women Creating) and currently drives the Women’s Parliament in Bolivia, an initiative launched in society within a context of serious political crisis characterised by Fascistisation and polarisation.

In her work, subordinate practices and knowledge founded in what Mujeres Creando call unheard-of alliances between “natives, bitches and lesbians” are articulated. There is also room for the political and literary traditions of anarchism, punk and Latin American feminism. As highlighted by Paul B. Preciado, her practice moves away from marketplace art and the gallery, going back to the place where it was born: the public square, the social ritual.
