Annette Messager

This catalogue comprises a site-specific exhibition made for the Palacio de Velázquez. Annette Messager is part of a generation which, in the early 1970s, renewed artistic language via the use of photography and subverted the traditional use of the medium. Messager thus interweaves aspects such as feminism, exposed intimacy, voyeurism and the division of the artist’s personality. Alongside analytical texts around questions such as domestic space and so-called “intimate processions” are the artist’s reflections on her conceptions of art and her different production techniques.
