Arte MADÍ

The publication of this catalogue concurs with the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Madí movement in Argentina in the 1940s. Adversaries of feeling and fantasy, the group’s members worked in the realm of perception by way of detailed geometric abstraction. The catalogue unfolds chronologically, stretching from Madí’s origins to its development between the Southern Cone and Paris, and to the present day, with the movement’s offshoots in the USA, France, Belgium, Hungary and Italy. In addition to specific essays, each section of the catalogue contains a selection of texts and manifestos produced by the group.
